LOS ANGELES EPILOGUES
Kindred from every corner of the world gathered in Los Angeles in May 2026 for a weekend of diplomacy, ambition, betrayal, and revelation. The choices made there have already begun to reshape Kindred society, and their consequences will be felt for years to come.
WHAT HAPPENED IN LOS ANGELES 2026?

Nine Rodriguez, Annabelle, the Barons of Los Angeles, Nelli G, Victor Temple, and X called upon representatives from cities across the Anarch Movement to gather in Los Angeles and discuss the future of the Movement. Building upon the success of the previous year's summit, Camarilla representatives were also invited in the spirit of dialogue and diplomacy.
What unfolded over the course of the gathering would reverberate far beyond Los Angeles. In a decision that stunned Kindred across the world, the vote of a single delegation tipped the balance and condemned the entirety of San Francisco. The consequences of that choice sent shockwaves through the Anarch Movement, the Camarilla, and every Kindred who now wonders what precedent was established that night.
FACTION AGENDAS
The Arsene Society — The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of
Early in the night, the Arsene Society met with Ruby, one of X’s lieutenants, who needed help. Her friend Floyd Thursby had never arrived at their meeting at Angel’s Flight near the Biltmore downtown, and has been missing ever since. The faction agreed to look for him, and went to the gathering to search for clues. After asking around if anyone had seen Thursby, their investigation led to X. It turned out, X had a strange dream sent by Thursby through some sort of magical means. It concerned mysterious “Pillars of Los Angeles” and a hidden artifact placed where “The Thing with No Face” and “The Black Hand” could not reach. At first, the faction was unsure how to interpret the vision and directed their search toward Catalina Island. There, they realized the “Pillars of Los Angeles” were the Kindred leaders of the city.
Collecting dreams from each of the city’s leaders, the Arsene Society decided to search the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which unfortunately was not correct. There, they encountered “The Thing With No Face”, an ancient Sabbat Tzimisce. After a short interaction, the faction tried to Dominate the ancient, only for it to unleash a war ghoul upon the local populace. The mindless monster began killing and maiming innocent people along the Miracle Mile as the faction pursued it. The Faction members chose to flee rather than deal with the chaotic violence.
The team’s search led them to the Huntington Gardens, a beautiful and historical place in Pasadena. It turned out that the dream had been quite literally about the artifact being hidden in a corpse, a corpse flower. Evading Szlachta and Vozhd, they found the artifact, The Tablet of Destiny, and escaped the garden while the ancient Tzimisce continued to tear the greenhouse apart. They never discovered the fate of Thursby, or what The Thing With No Face had done to get the information out of him.
But what to do with the artifact? With this kind of power, a single kindred or an entire Sect could gain a huge advantage in the final nights. After a brief discussion, they decided that the Arsene Society always finishes the job they were hired to do and delivered the tablet to Ruby. Unfortunately, after examination, Ruby was deeply disappointed to learn that the tablet had been a fake the entire time and nothing more than the stuff that dreams are made of.

THE AURORAL SHIELD — THREE FACES OF GLUTTONY
One of the bunker’s lights flickered as the five members of the Auroral Shield’s Aegis Assembly wound their way toward the conclusion of their meeting. Where the Oaxaca Incident had caused much debate, the events in the City of Angels now drew their attention.
“The next item on the agenda is the Los Angeles incident. Somehow anomalies EU-005 and NA-014 in the newly-acquired Yucca containment facility convinced personnel to not only release them but also to erase all digital reference to them. When united with Emil Blackthorne’s SA-009, the objects took control of all Auroral Shield assets before wiping their minds.
“Where our assets were eventually able to reacquire all three items, containment has proven problematic. When all three objects are held together, they can eat through wards at a prodigious rate. They are presently contained as far from each other as possible while remaining within Yucca, under ward and remote observation. All three items have been given Wyvern status.”
“The loss of Blackthorne is regrettable, but acceptable given the information learned.”
“To clarify one point in your report, our assets’ minds were not wiped per se, which would imply something akin to Forgetful Mind could restore them. Rather, those memories are gone. I believe the word used was devoured. Further, any attempt to peer into the item, from Auspex to Oblivion, hastened the loss of memory.”
“‘The eyes are windows to the soul.’ That is an acceptable point of correction. It is also notable that the anomalies even resisted and somehow affected the abilities of our mage asset.”
“We should commend our assets for their determination and ingenuity. There is no telling what harm these three anomalous objects could have caused if they escaped. However, until we are certain there are no additional side effects, let’s keep our assets under observation, even from afar.”
“Agreed.”
“Secretum Securitas Imperium,” declared the Assembly in unison.

Half the world away, a mind was silent; the empty plate of a creature’s latest meal. Its flesh, blood, and viscera now just a discarded sack for rats or possibly another Kindred, if they were desperate. The creature felt something it had not for aeons, a tingle that it did not immediately recognize, but when it did, it smiled, “children.” The word came out in no tongue living soul knew.
The monster’s unkempt fingernails rasped along the brick wall, “you’ve run for so long. Trapped now, and what a bounty you have found for me.” What a rictus the creature’s face became, as it considered how best to seek the gift being presented.
THE CHIMERA GROUP — ROGUE OPERATIVE HUNT
It’s not common for members of the Chimera Group to be expelled, but it does happen from time to time. Most quietly accept this transition, glad simply to have their unlives intact, but this isn’t always the case. The faction learned a small group of former operatives had formed a competing organization that was operating out of the Biltmore Hotel. As the host location for the Anarch Movement’s discussions for the weekend, it was imperative that they found out what the former operatives were up to.
Their briefing materials had two sets of leads, so the Chimera Group split into two teams. The first group went to speak with Nines Rodriguez. He revealed that the rogue operatives had deceived him, claiming to be members of the Chimera Group in good standing. He charged the faction with closing down their operation within the hotel, and shared some correspondence he had received. One of his lieutenants also shared a mysterious cog they had found on the premises. A letter from the rogue operatives indicated that they were picking up packages left at the hotel’s front desk. They were able to discern the rogue operative’s alias, and intercepted his latest drop thanks to some assistance from the front desk manager. Inside the package was another cog and set of instructions. The cogs together formed an Engma II machine, which the Chimera Group would need to intercept any rogue communications.
The second group worked to make contact with a deep cover agent who had been surveilling the rogue operatives by posing as a bartender. The Chimera group made contact with the agent’s handler who explained that the bartender was holding onto a package that they would provide if they ordered a specific drink. The handler also provided a third cog they had retrieved as part of their operation. The faction correctly identified the drink order and discreetly recovered the package from the undercover agent. It contained an intercepted coded message from the rogue operatives.
Using the three cogs, the faction decided the message. It indicated that the rogue operatives had bugged one of the rooms which the Anarch Movement was planning to use for high-level discussions later in the weekend. The group searched the room and found the 12 bugs intended to eavesdrop on the Movement’s sensitive discussions.
The Chimera Group managed to shut down operations at the Biltmore, earning the gratitude of Baron Rodriguez. However, the rogue operatives remain at-large, and may attempt to foil the group’s plans in other cities.

THE EPICUREANS — THE VALEMONT VINTAGE
For the last century, the Valemont family has supplied their line’s exceptional-tasting blood under an exclusive contract to Midnight Marrow Vintages. Throughout their stewardship of the Valmonts, Midnight Marrow has carefully cultivated both the family’s reputation and the family itself through strict production controls on diet, activity, and breeding. They have maintained their traditional methods, adding a sense of exclusivity through deliberate scarcity to ensure that access to Valemont vintages remained the privilege of a select few.
However, as their exclusive contract's expiration approached, a challenger emerged. Château Noirêve entered negotiations promising a bold new vision for the Valemonts, one of expansion, innovation, and broader access to the delights of Valemont blood.
The Valemont family, recognizing the significance of the decision before them, turned to their most loyal patrons and most discerning consumers, the Epicureans. They requested the faction's guidance in determining what the future of their legacy ought to be.
The Epicureans approached the matter with characteristic enthusiasm. They attended private tastings, questioned representatives from both veinyards, and weighed the merits of each proposal.
Midnight Marrow offered stability, prestige, and proven methods, but little interest in innovation or growth. Their vision was one of preservation, maintaining traditions that had served them for generations.
Château Noirêve proposed ambitious, creative, and exciting new products, new markets, and a future where far more Kindred could experience the pleasures of Valemont blood. Yet beneath the glamour and promises, the Epicureans uncovered troubling concerns. While Château Noirêve valued the product, they seemed far less concerned with the well-being and dignity of the family themselves.
Faced with a choice between stagnation and exploitation, the Epicureans refused to accept either. They entered the negotiations themselves, seeking to establish their own veinyard.
Over the course of the weekend, members of the faction forged alliances beyond their traditional circles, called in favors, negotiated agreements, secured resources, created marketing campaigns, started the construction of infrastructure, and assembled a proposal of their own. What began as a consultation transformed into an entrepreneurial venture, and by the time final negotiations commenced, the Epicureans stood not merely as advisors but as legitimate competitors.
The Valemont family awarded the contract to the Epicureans, ending Midnight Marrow's century-long stewardship and denying Château Noirêve its expansion into the market. In doing so, the faction established Organ Vital, a new veinyard dedicated to balancing quality, innovation, and ethical stewardship of the family whose blood made the entire enterprise possible.
Rumors suggest their first products are already nearing release. Working closely with their Duskborn allies, Organ Vital has developed a line of sophisticated party beverages featuring carefully crafted alchemical additives designed to enhance the social experience without sacrificing refinement. While traditionalists grumble and competitors watch nervously, anticipation among younger Kindred continues to grow.
For the Epicureans, the weekend was proof that passion, creativity, and collaboration could triumph over both complacency and exploitation. Whether Organ Vital becomes a lasting institution or merely the first chapter in a much larger story remains to be seen.
THE EXECUTIVE BOARD — HOSTILE TAKEOVER
Power is something all Kindred desire, but none perhaps have garnered as much in recent nights as have The Executive Board. As their influence has grown over the past few years, their efforts culminated in the takeover of The Succubus Club, drawing opposition from Clan Toreador. Despite persistent attacks, The Executive Board have continued to persevere, entering Los Angeles a bit bruised and sore, but nonetheless with their heads held high.
On Saturday, the Executive Board’s meeting was interrupted with the arrival of a special guest - Portia, owner of the original Succubus Club in Chicago. She arrived with a letter for each member of the faction, the contents of which have remained a mystery to anyone outside that meeting room.
After some deliberation, The Executive Board returned full control of the Succubus Club in Chicago to Portia. This seemed to appease Portia and clan Toreador for now, but there are whispers in Elysium that something else happened in Los Angeles, the ramifications of which have yet to be felt. Secrets may come to light in the future that could not only jeopardize the Board, but Clan Toreador, or even the Camarilla itself. What this secret is, or if it will ever come to light, remains to be seen….
Beyond these hostile negotiations, the Executive Board also bolstered itself against a brewing cold war with the Circulatory System. The accumulated resources and resolve of the Board has led to a soft cease fire for the moment, and rumor says there will be negotiations in the future to resolve border disputes and territory rights for the whole of the System.
Finally, the Executive Board directed its attention toward an Anarch with a nasty history of diablerie and who has written one of the most damning, inflammatory pieces of propaganda to date. Members of the faction partnered with, and made deals with those gifted in Blood Sorcery to scry upon the location of Agata Starek, author of The Manifesto on the Politics of Joy. They discerned she is active in Europe, and political work was done to potentially pave the way to replace the recently acquitted Germaine with her name on the Red List.
All in all, the Executive Board was successful at maintaining stability and power within their organization, but as cracks begin to form and rumors make their way around the country and the world, the lingering question on everyone’s minds is when the chips are on the table, will the Board succeed as they have in the past, or will this hostile takeover be their last?

THE HAYMARKTERS — JACK’S VIDEO ADVENTURES
At the start of the VHS boom, Jack’s Video opened in 1986 in Pasadena, CA. It would later come to be acquired by the Anarch Smiling Jack, with some rumors saying he won it in a poker game, and others saying he found it amusing to purchase and rebrand the store after himself. At its peak, Jack’s Video operated in over 200 municipalities. After 30 years and with only a sparse few locations remaining, it’s since become a shadow of its former self.
However, Kindred are known for their long memories, and Smiling Jack came to realize he had an opportunity. Throughout years of operations, several prominent Kindred had incurred late fees on video rentals. Thanks to an inventive membership agreement and the magic of compounding interest, Jack realized he was sitting on a potential windfall. He reached out to the Haymarketers with a proposition: join his crew and collect his late fees, and he’d cut them in on a piece of the action.
After reviewing the employee handbook, electing managers, and ensuring compliance with the bizarre dress code policy, The Haymarketers went to work. They had a list of over 40 names of Kindred who owed Smiling Jack money. The list of debtors included visiting dignitaries, persons of notoriety, and even the Anarch leaders of Los Angeles. Many argued over their fees, some pleaded ignorance, but many paid when confronted by a determined group of Haymarketers. The group’s collection of recovered DVDs and late fees steadily grew throughout the night.
By the end of the Sunday, one high-profile debt remained outstanding: Victor Temple. After negotiations with Victor’s accountant fell through, the Haymarketers printed and distributed flyers questioning Victor’s reliability and leadership capabilities. This prompted a polite request from the Baron to kindly defer the matter of the debt until several high-stakes discussions with his fellow Barons were concluded.
At the conclusion of the weekend, the Haymarketers had amassed an impressive haul., They even managed to sell a new franchise agreement to one of the guests, allowing them to open their own Jack’s Video location. Smiling Jack was reportedly delighted with the Haymarketers’ performance, and generously split the spoils with the faction. He is currently rumored to be contemplating additional acts of piracy with the faction.
THE IRON HORSEMEN — WITHER, BLISTER, BURN, AND PEEL
The Iron Horsemen have established themselves as reliable, tough, and mobile, taking their services on the road and providing help and support to the other Factions. They’ve proven they can solve problems diplomatically and with violence in equal measure, and many have been surprised in recent months and years to see the Horsemen adopting a less of a "punch first” mindset, instead preferring an “ask questions while punching” mentality. However, this success combined with their incredibly positive track record in dealing with werewolves, drew unexpected attention to themselves in ways they couldn’t have anticipated.
In open violation of the Masquerade, a corrupted, twisted pack of werewolves ambushed the Horsemen and their entourage on the highway, weaponizing civilian deaths and the potential for additional greater casualties in equal measure. Calling themselves the Strontium Howl, this pack of nomadic nihilists fought bitterly, leaving the Horsemen to enter the massive gathering of Los Angeles bloodied and battered.
These lupines were an enemy the Iron Horsemen hadn’t anticipated. It seemed they had a grudge specifically with the faction’s recent diplomatic successes with other werewolves. The group learned that the twisted werewolves were looking to power the Strontium Engine, a massive device with the power to erode and ruin the environment. The werewolves recently acquired an ancient indigenous artifact to power the engine, which they planned to corrupt, releasing a spirit to help “push the pedal to the floor and on the Apocalypse”. The lupines reportedly didn’t care what the Horsemen did; when the gathering was over, they planned to hunt them across the country and to the ends of the earth. This was all out of spite the Iron Horsemen had dared lift a hand to aid other werewolves; their “wayward, loser cousins” as Strontium Howl’s leader said.
Not being ones to sit idly, the Horsemen had what might be considered their first true test as a group as tempers flared, words were said that cannot be taken back, and several sought to act first without the full support of the group. One brave Kindred challenged the Alpha, and while he ensured she bled, she sent him back in torpor and a pile of broken bones and bloodied ash: a message and a warning in equal measure. Secret arrangements had been made in the background as well, and while Kindred could aid the Horsemen, it was clear that there were some supporting the Strontium Howl. Those Kindred ensured other factions wouldn’t get involved, and the Howl in turn had provided assurances that they’d only hunt and kill the Horseman… for the most part.
The conflict came to a head when the Iron Horsemen finally confronted the pack. Both sides agreed that an all out fight would only result in massive casualties, so they jointly resolved to each put forth a champion, making for the highest stakes the Horsemen had ever faced.
If the Iron Horsemen won, the Howl would leave them be, leave the artifact behind, and never bother them again. If the Strontium Howl won, the Iron Horsemen would join them, and help them push the planet toward its inevitable end as fast as possible, all the while hunting and hurting any and everyone that crossed the Howl’s path.
What happened next is different depending on whom you ask. Many saw the champion of the Iron Horsemen fall. However, the struggle showed that while lupine Alpha was strong, dangerous, and seasoned in ways few others are, she wasn’t invincible. Having triumphed, she threw the torpid body of the faction’s champion towards the ancient relic, which was already prepared for a foul sacrifice along with a near-extinct bird. Together, their deaths would corrupt the relic’s spirit, powering the Strontium Engine.
Almost immediately, most present were struck blind, their beasts cowled in fear and brought to their knees. The enemy werewolves were overcome by a strange force which caused their bodies to transform uncontrollably, leaving them clawing at their ears, eyes, and faces as if possessed by a deep terror.
Only those of Clan Gangrel present have any idea exactly what happened, and even amongst themselves, it's not entirely clear what that was. Some say that gods now walk the earth again. Others contest that the world itself finally kicked back at the corruption and ruin the likes of this Lupine death cult was spreading. Others cannot put into words the experience. But something intervened in that moment. Something had arrived, and when it left, the Strontium Howl was simply gone, as was the bird they’d planned to sacrifice.
Where the Iron Horsemen go from here, is difficult to say. As they each return to their havens, they have to contend with the fact that they now have enemies they know nothing about, who know very much about them. They have to face the open road always looking over their backs now, with the understanding that other forces are at play. While they have been there time and time again for others, when their time of need comes, they may have to face what looms in the darkness on the horizon of the open road alone, with only each other to brave what comes next….

THE LIMELIT CIRCLE — THEY ARE WATCHING
With Baron Nelli G’s reality show in full production, the Limelit Circle found themselves entrusted with a risky assignment to push the Masquerade to its absolute limit and learn exactly how far modern surveillance could be manipulated before it pushes back.
Following intelligence first uncovered in Atlanta, Nelli’s circles learned that Beverly Hills had become a testing ground for the experimental FIRSTLIGHT monitoring systems, which included a program for social media analysis. Seeing a hint of opportunity in the danger, the Circle descended upon Beverly Hills to conduct a series of provocative “incidents”, carefully crafted to flirt with exposure while trying to maintain enough plausible deniability.
The Circle staged performances and recorded suspicious footage. Their work was reviewed by a panel of Kindred in the entertainment industry and one of Nelli’s personal advisors. The Circle’s main objective was to attempt to determine what content the algorithms would flag, suppress, amplify… or ignore entirely.
While they did succeed in learning the ways of the algorithm, the system unfortunately noticed them, too. By the end of the experiment, the Circle had attracted enough attention to earn an alarming amount of digital heat from FIRSTLIGHT’s systems.
Desperate to reduce their growing exposure, the Circle turned to Nelli G for help. The Baron agreed to help mitigate their situation through one of her contacts, but in exchange for a favor of her own. One of Nelli’s retainers had recently gone missing within Beverly Hills, and she wanted the faction to investigate.
The Limelit Circle stealthily made their way to a FIRSTLIGHT hideout, and after a head-on confrontation, they were able to find Nelli’s retainer. The retainer had some strange vitae around her neck, potent but belonging to someone they didn’t recognize. They also found another body, which seemed to be a ghoul, long since discarded.
Even more unsettling was the condition of the facility itself. The warehouse had clearly been occupied recently, yet much of it had been abandoned in haste. Equipment had been removed and records destroyed. It felt like a retreat rather than a successful hunter operation. The Circle recovered what little remained, including a cache of abandoned hunter weaponry, before extracting and returning Nelli’s retainer.
In the aftermath, it became increasingly apparent that FIRSTLIGHT’s attention had shifted elsewhere. Toward something larger, more urgent, and far more dangerous than a handful of social media anomalies in Beverly Hills. For the Limelit Circle, this proved fortunate. The pressure bearing down on them eased almost overnight, their digital heat fading as hunter resources were redirected toward another unknown target.
Further investigation conducted alongside Tremere allies eventually identified the vitae found on Nelli’s retainer. It belonged to a Kindred named Portia. A name none in the Circle recognized, but perhaps one they soon would.
THE PRAETERITA — GROUT’S GAME
On the surface the task before the Praeterita was simple: Acquire keys and map pieces from the cache of Alistair Grout, the fallen Malkvaian Primogen of Los Angeles. The Kindred adventurers gathered what they could and combined the efforts of seers to fill in the gaps they could not find. They quickly learned that the items themselves were not the prize. Three keys overlaid the map at the precise Xs to reveal the location of Grout’s real treasure, and a decryption of the alphametic led them to a red door in the boiler room, a door only visible if you knew what you were looking for.
The traps beyond served as a simple prelude for an audience with a freshly awakened ancient: Iontius, Childe of Toreader herself. The Praeterita’s peaceful, albeit inquisitive demeanor coupled with the connection their patron had with him stayed Iontius’s hand, at least long enough for them to each ask one question. Then he fed: it was a simple thing, just a caress upon the cheek, a touch upon the arm. Some may have desired more, but they were left wanting as the Methuselah walked out into the night.
─────
The windows of the Chantry of the Five Burroughs flew open, exposing the carpet and furniture of Sturbridge’s Office to light rain that had begun to fall. The alabaster feet of an adonis glided to the floor only to be met with glowering eyes over the rim of the regent’s glasses. Aisling’s hand strayed toward the thorn the Praeterita recovered. It felt uncomfortable even inches away.
“You received my gift.” Iontius’s voice was supernaturally enchanting. Time and power had a way of warping ancients. This was no discipline as she or others might know it. It was simply him. “The other authors are absent.”
Although he phrased it as a statement, Aisling knew he was fishing for information. That he was using words and not simply stealing her thoughts was a good sign. He wanted to talk, wanted the humanity of talking. “The Beckoning took them. That’s what we call it. A summons, a call to war, a war growing to end us all.” Had he not felt it? Was he somehow powerful enough to resist the Beckoning? Was he simply too newly awakened? Permutations and possibilities tumbled through the regent’s mind.
“So, you sent your book club to find me. Were you hoping I would fight for you?”
“No,” Sturbridge began; though, she did not relax. “I was expecting something related to the Mnemosyne. I had no reason to suspect you would be there.” A miniscule twitch touched the ancient’s lips. Aisling was not sure if he was pleased or angered by her answer. “But, you are here now. We could use you. Your help would…”
“Use?” Hardness crept into Iontius’s voice, a subtle call to imminent violence. “That is the way of all things. We use each other.” Aisling did not know when he had come so close, the back of his hand now trailing down her cheek, his touch a fire she had not known since her mortal days. “Your war is not mine.”
Then he was simply gone, sheets of paper lilting to the floor the only sign of his passing.

THE PROMETHEAN CONCLAVE — DO WHAT THOU WILT
Gathering once again in Los Angeles, the Promethean Conclave were invited to a technological demonstration at one of the country’s premiere universities, the California Institute of Technology. There, they met with Alex Heart, one of their previous members who had moved on from the faction to find a new way to bring knowledge to the world. The demonstration was easy enough to understand, involving a device capable of bending spacetime to allow instantaneous travel. Unfortunately, anyone who passed through this “Devil’s Door” went through the Abyss, experiencing the worst moments of their existence over and over again. The faction immediately combined their resources and Fangcoin to buy a $10 million stake in the research. Seeing the opportunities, they agreed to meet Alex’s new friend at the White City, the remains of a former resort on Echo Mountain the next night.
At the White City, the Prometheans witnessed a ritual of fire and an orgy of mortal infernalists. From the fire, Thora revealed herself to them. She was an ancient Baali who believed that the two groups could come to an understanding. Just as Prometheus had stolen knowledge from the gods, given it to humanity, and been punished for all eternity, so too had Lucifer. In the garden, Eve took knowledge from Satan in his guise as the serpent, and God punished her for it.
Only a short time later, God punished Caine too. Thora reasoned that both Kindred and the Fallen were under the same curse in the same eternal war against God and his angels. It was therefore foolish not to stand together. The Prometheans took a secret vote to decide the future of their faction, splitting it almost 50/50. Where that will lead, no one knows, but the temptation is enticing.
THE TEMPERED FANG — THE WEIGHT OF MERCY
The Tempered Fang arrived in Los Angeles with a simple mandate: investigate, judge, and determine whether mercy could be afforded in three specific cases without compromising the safety of Kindred society. By the end of the weekend, they had to render judgment on all three cases, forcing them to weigh the value of redemption against the potential risk.
The first file concerned Iris Shaw, a newly embraced Kindred abandoned by her sire after her creation. Left entirely on her own, Iris had struggled to survive while avoiding discovery. Although investigators uncovered two incidents that had come dangerously close to becoming Masquerade breaches, their interviews painted a remarkably different picture than they had expected. Despite periods of extreme hunger, Iris had managed to demonstrate restraint. She had sought to feed as carefully as she knew how, and showed genuine remorse for her mistakes. The Tempered Fang saw humility and an eagerness to learn in Iris, and after lengthy deliberation, the faction determined that Iris's failures were those of circumstance rather than character.
Rather than punishment, she was granted the opportunity she had been denied from the beginning. A member of the Tempered Fang volunteered to oversee her education on Kindred life, as a sort of delayed accounting.
The second case concerned Rook, a Sabbat defector seeking sanctuary among more civilized sects. Investigation revealed an uncomfortable truth: Rook had only been separated from his former pack for a matter of months, hardly enough time for most Kindred to trust that true change had taken root. Yet the evidence could not be ignored. He had broken free from the vinculum, provided actionable intelligence regarding Sabbat movements, and repeatedly acted against the interests of his former allies.
What troubled the faction was not evidence of lingering Sabbat loyalty, but rather the absence of any clear ideological loyalty at all. Rook did not appear to believe in the Sabbat's crusade, yet neither did he express meaningful commitment to the ideals of the Camarilla or the Anarch Movement. He seemed less an ideological convert so much as a Kindred determined to survive.
Then, during his final questioning, another truth emerged. Rook was Iris's sire. The revelation cast both cases in a new light. It was determined that Iris had been created as part of a cruel Sabbat ritual. Unlike the others subjected to the same fate, Rook had spared her, even while lacking the courage or conviction to remain and guide her.
After considerable debate, the Tempered Fang chose mercy once again. One of their own offered to oversee Rook's education and gradual integration into Camarilla society. Several members felt that placing him under the guidance of a clanmate would provide the greatest chance of success. His sentence is one of observation and reform rather than punishment. His progress will be reviewed in ten years' time, at which point the faction will determine whether he can safely function as an independent member of Kindred society.
The final case was that of Mara Kline, a Toreador who stood accused of repeated Masquerade breaches. On the surface, the evidence against her seemed overwhelming. Yet investigation revealed that Mara had not been acting out of malice, or carelessness. She was being blackmailed.
The source of the blackmail remained unknown even to Mara herself. What she did know was that threats had repeatedly been made against her mortal descendants. During questioning, she admitted that if those threats continued, she would likely continue to obey any accompanying demands.
Drawing upon their considerable technical expertise, the faction traced the source of the communications. The culprit proved to be neither hunter nor rival Kindred, but Mara's own great-great-grandson, the 84 year old Regis Kline. Convinced that vampires were real and desperate to prove he was not insane, Regis had orchestrated the entire campaign himself. By forcing his ancestor into increasingly public acts, he hoped to reveal the truth to the world.
After considerable discussion among Tempered Fang members, the situation was resolved without bloodshed. Regis was relocated, his memories reconstructed, and arrangements were made for his continued care. One member of the Tempered Fang personally accepted responsibility for seeing him safely through the remainder of his mortal life.
While the faction acknowledged the coercion Mara had suffered, they could not ignore her stated willingness to continue violating the Masquerade. Another member of the Tempered Fang accepted responsibility for her reeducation and rehabilitation over the next 20 years. She was informed in no uncertain terms that she would never again be permitted contact with her descendants. Should she knowingly establish herself in a domain where one of them resides, the faction's next intervention will not be educational.
As the members of the Tempered Fang departed Los Angeles, they carried no trophies and claimed no great victories. Whether Iris becomes a responsible neonate, whether Rook finds conviction beyond mere survival, and whether Mara learns to place the Masquerade above her lingering attachments remains to be seen. The weight of mercy is not measured in a single judgment, but in what comes after.

THE WILTING LILLIES — THE CENSORED GALLERY
The Wilting Lilies were granted a rare and dangerous privilege: stewardship over a private collection of forbidden Kindred art once held within the archives of the late Prince Vannevar. Delivered into their care by a mysterious patron of the arts, the collection carried many secrets. Some pieces had visions of prophecy, some of diablerie, and others had souls preserved within them beyond the point of death.
The Lilies chose to curate an invite-only gallery hidden within Los Angeles. A silent auction would then follow between those who were lucky enough to be chosen to attend.
Initially, Baron Victor Temple himself placed a sweeping bid for the entire collection. While his offer was considered generous, the faction determined the paintings would be divided according to the Lilles’ own discretion and the ambitions of their would-be proprietors.
At first, one of the pieces remained untouched by any other bidders. The Beast at Rest, a portrait that stirred something in any who used the abilities of Auspex or Oblivion. In the end, however, Victor Temple quietly claimed the painting for himself after no other bidders placed bids on it.
Though one Toreador bidder was able to secure the winning bid for The Diablerie of Amaranth, the Wilting Lilies instead chose to offer the painting as a personal gift to Nelli G. Upon learning the piece was believed to depict the childe of the Toreador antediluvian, Nelli elected to preserve the work within her own custody.
Renato offered the highest bid for The Gehenna Prophecy, seemingly stirred by something deeply personal during his viewing of the apocalyptic piece.
One Ventrue bidder secured The Methusleah painting in the Death of Socrates, with an extravagant bid backed by considerable resources, only to later present this work as a gift to Victoria Ash herself.
The vandalized soul painting attributed to Katherine of Montpelier proved perhaps the most disturbing piece of the collection. Several Lilies reported hearing voices emanating from the canvas itself.
At one point during the exhibition, agents of the Haymarketers attempted to steal one of the paintings outright. The Lilies swiftly intervened, stopping the theft and forcing the would-be thieves to return the portrait before the situation could spiral into open conflict.
Through poetry, theatrical performance, and the gifting of roses, the Wilting Lilies formally petitioned Nelli G to become their official patron within Los Angeles. To the delight of the faction, she accepted.
And so, the gallery closed its doors. The paintings found new homes, and the Lilies saw their true calling of not to destroy dangerous art, but to ensure it survived in careful hands.
TENTPOLE PLOTS
A CHARTER IN ASH AND IRON
The formation of the Anarch Free States in 1944 was a loosely coordinated affair, coming on the heels of an unexpected victory. A Revolutionary Council emerged to claim leadership, producing the Status Perfectus, a set of governing rules for the Free State. After the passage of decades, the world has changed dramatically, yet few of the original voices on the council remain. What the original Revolutionary Council would think of the Anarch Movement’s modern problems, from the threat of smartphones or an influx of Sabbat defectors from the Gehenna War, is anyone’s guess. However, a recent discovery offered some unexpected insight into the mindset of the council.
Hidden within a forgotten lockbox recovered from an abandoned safehouse, a collection of coded journal entries was recovered in an exchange diary written by the Revolutionary Council, along with fragments of the original charter they had struggled to create. What initially appeared to be little more than historical curiosities quickly became one of the most significant political discoveries in modern Anarch history.
The assembled Kindred worked diligently to unravel the journal's secrets. Ciphers were broken, and theories were debated. As more of the correspondence became clear, so too did the story of the charter's creation. The journal revealed arguments, compromises, and fears held by the movement's founders as they attempted to build something capable of surviving beyond revolution, but most importantly, it revealed why the charter was incomplete.
The final entries pointed toward the location of the two missing clauses deliberately removed before the document was given to the courier Mercury for safe-keeping. According to his own writings, Isaac Abrams feared that the disputed provisions would fracture the fledgling Anarch Movement before it had an opportunity to establish itself. Rather than destroy them, he concealed the clauses among the countless contracts, deeds, and legal documents that he had accumulated during decades of his Hollywood career.
Abrams had not intended the clauses to remain hidden forever. His writings suggested that he believed the Movement would one day grow strong enough to revisit the questions they raised. When that night came, future Anarchs would decide for themselves whether the ideas deserved a place within the charter.
Upon learning the location of the missing documents, Baron Nelli G dispatched a runner to retrieve them from the immense collection of records Abrams had bequeathed to her when he passed stewardship of Hollywood into her hands. After an exhaustive search, the final fragments were recovered and reunited with the rest of the charter, and for the first time, the complete document lay before the Movement.
Rather than rushing to adopt it, Nines Rodriguez called for open discussion. Representatives from across the Movement gathered to debate the charter clause by clause, much as its founders had done generations earlier. Arguments were passionate. Old disagreements resurfaced. New interpretations emerged. Some clauses passed with overwhelming support, while others sparked fierce debate that lasted long into the night.
In the end, the majority of the charter was accepted, while four provisions remained unresolved: The Chain of Blood, The Rise of Leaders, The Right of Crownless Domain, and The Clause of Severance.
Though many advocated strongly for their adoption and others argued just as passionately against them, no consensus could be reached. So rather than force a decision, the assembled Kindred chose to set those four clauses aside for further discussion.
While some may view this as a failure, it is easy to see it as the greatest validation of the charter's purpose. The founders themselves had disagreed fiercely on these very issues, and so it is only fitting that the youth of the Movement continue the debate rather than accept easy answers. The charter has now returned, but the work it began remains unfinished.
Across Anarch domains, copies of the recovered document are already circulating. Barons, idealists, revolutionaries, and dissidents alike have begun arguing over what the charter means and what it should become. The four unresolved clauses remain a source of fascination and controversy, with some believing they represent the Movement's future and others warning they contain the seeds of its destruction.
Isaac Abrams hid those clauses because he feared they would tear the Movement apart. The question now facing a new generation of Anarchs is whether he was wrong or just early.

GHOSTS OF THE PAST
In an empty ballroom of the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, Nines, Victor, and X all stood, intently watching Nelli as she concluded a phone call. The fate of the Western United States was about to change.
Nelli hung up the phone and the room was silent. “It’s done,” she said in a reserved tone.
“And we all get to live with it,” Nines added, pacing around the room in a mixture of anger and dismay.
“Better there than here! Though maybe somewhere smaller without as many Kindred would have been better…,” X trailed off and cut himself short as Victor gave him a hard, severe look.
“Well, there’s your democracy in action,” Victor added, pointedly. “Next time we have to make a decision that impacts all of our Baronies, maybe we don’t let the Camarilla make half the god-damn votes.”
“Agreed!” X nodded enthusiastically.
“Where’s Annabelle?” Nines asked, rubbing his temples.
“She’s already left for San Francisco,” Nelli responded flatly, removing a small square of black cloth from her clutch and dabbing the corner of her eyes.
The room was silent as each pondered their circumstances.
A single Hunter organization was, on its face, dangerous. Even powerful Kindred could be caught unawares, or a pattern of carelessness could lead to a very unpleasant awakening in the middle of the day. Split by different ideologies and the interests of the nations they served, Hunter organizations typically operated unilaterally. For more than two Hunter organizations to work together was very unusual, but for several Hunter organizations to come together was not only unheard of, it was disastrous. However, intelligence gathered over the weekend indicated the leader of Operation: Antigen—the 2012 operation that saw London purged of nearly every single Kindred—organized a summit the prior year. Together, they established a means of working together, and outlined a joint operation that threatened another London-style purge within North America.
The joint effort produced a prioritized list of targets, with Los Angeles the primary candidate, followed by Chicago and other Kindred-held cities. During the course of the Anarch summit, Nelli G revealed she had a long-standing relationship with a Hunter who had since risen within his organization. As the initial target was not yet finalized, this allowed a narrow opportunity to redirect the city selected for the operation, to be carried out under the codename BULWARK. As the working capital of the Anarch Free States, it was unfathomable to allow the certain destruction of Los Angeles. That left the grim choice of what city to divert the Hunters to.
Nines had insisted that those who were present should have a voice. While many Anarch leaders were present. He insisted they could not make a decision of this magnitude on their own, and even if the Camarilla might have a voice in these discussions, Nines still felt that if a city was to be condemned to death, that those who had supported the domains of Los Angeles so staunchly the past few years have a say. The leaders agreed to allow each faction to have a single vote.
At its best, democracy gives the freedom for many voices to be heard, but if corrupted, it allows Kindred with agendas to manipulate a situation for personal gain. The four Barons of Los Angeles had to confront this truth head-on. Many visitors advocated that Los Angeles “deserved” this; a punishment for a lax attitude toward technology. Others ostensibly believed that Los Angeles should be spared, but sought to weaponize the calamity to settle old grudges. One childe of Hardestat sought to direct the Hunters to Las Vegas, where Theo Bell resided. Others suggested cities they felt were of little consequence—small cities they considered expendable—but intelligence had shown that BULWARK’s leadership were only considering targets from a select group of cities. .
The vote began. Despite Victor insisting that Los Angeles could not be considered as an option, an initial round of votes concluded with Los Angeles as the leading city with four votes. While it was the leading option, it did not carry a majority. The remaining votes were divided between other Anarch and Camarilla cities, with San Francisco in second place.
An argument erupted between the Barons. Nines and Annabelle insisted that Los Angeles should be considered despite Victor’s prohibition, while Victor, Nelli, and X vehemently disagreed. After a brief shouting match, the Barons ordered a second round of votes with two options: Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Each representative from the factions was then given the chance to vote anonymously. The factions which previously chose various cities consolidated around San Francisco. The voting concluded with nine votes for San Francisco and three for Los Angeles — one of the votes for LA had switched sides. San Francisco would be the battleground for BULWARK.
The selection left Annabelle and Nines incensed. The pair felt that the Hunters could be fought, especially in Los Angeles where the Anarchs were well-entrenched. However, the other Barons insisted neither of them could comprehend fighting a force powerful enough to purge London. Annabelle and many other Kindred soon left for San Francisco to do what they could to help.
“Sooooooooooo….whaaaaat do we do now?” X asked, breaking the silence as he fidgeted and paced.
The other Barons looked at one another. Nelli G shrugged. “Go lick my wounds and ponder why the fuck any of this matters,” she uttered flatly.
“Prepare for war,” Victor answered in kind, a stern tone to his voice. He slapped the table in front of him. “It wasn’t us today, but it will be us someday. I don’t plan to give an inch to them EVER again,” he finished, balling his other hand into a first.
Nines was slow to answer. “Ask forgiveness, and send what help we can. I hope Annabelle is ready for what she’s heading into.”
The four Barons spent the next several moments in silence. While no one knew exactly what would come next, the fate of San Francisco had been sealed by their actions. They departed the Biltmore Hotel to begin their own preparations, each pondering the weight that came with the decision that had been made.
THE REVOLUTION WILL BE TELEVISED
Nelli G’s cheeks were streaked red and black with mascara and blood. What a fucking mess. LA was almost sentenced to death, she had to deal with another betrayal by Annabelle, and now she has to save the show, too? The night never ends.
Nelli watched her team of editors working on a panel of screens. Each displaying a feed of footage being cut and colored. Nelli’s supernatural senses meant she could keep up with all of them, but it was her own refined sense of taste and experience that let her see the story forming in the chaos. After all, she was a god damn professional.
“We have so many shots of me with my roses. Let’s make sure they get featured. Do we have any interviews with them?”
The editor nodded and added the request to his notes. He shifted to pulling up shots of the Toreador for Nelli’s review.
The work was interrupted by Nelli's assistant Claire who arrived with photographs of small cinemas around Hollywood. These were smaller venues, places that exclusively held private bookings, or simply didn't see much business these days.
The intrusion sparked Nelli’s irritation. “Can’t you take anything off my plate?” Nelli pointed to a photo of an old theater barred by metal gates. “Schedule a screening in two weeks, private and exclusive. Invite the Limelit Circle. Not Annabelle. A few young and curious Camarilla, too. Maybe they’ll learn to appreciate art someday.”
The assistant nodded. “And what do we do about the petition, ma’am?”
“That won’t be a problem,” Nelli explained as she rose from her seat, “I’ve spoken to Renato, Martin Tau, and their associates. We’ve come to an understanding about the Masquerade. And some of my biggest fans already came crawling back in secret to curry my favor. But do keep a list of those Toreador who signed it. We don’t want to forget who didn’t stand behind me.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Oh and Claire?”
“Yes, ma’am?”
“What the fuck are you wearing?”
Her assistant looked down to the purple leather jacket which perfectly complemented her designer blouse and matching skirt. Keeping up with a Toreador’s evolving sense of fashion was a constant challenge, especially one as particular as the Baron of Hollywood. Claire started to cry tears of blood. “I’m sorry, ma’am... I forgot.” She abruptly turned to hide both her tears and her wardrobe.
“No leather!” Nelli’s admonishment hung in the air for several seconds as the neonate rushed out of the room.
Satisfied with the editing progress, Nelli retreated to her private office. There, she retrieved a new burner phone from her desk to call the only number in it: Victor Temple. He answered almost immediately.
“Victor, so nice to speak to you. Are you available next Wednesday night? I’d love to show you my new propaganda weapon…. Yes, it’s the pilot. It’s still happening. We had some setbacks thanks to the Camarilla, but we’re back on track. Once those little neonates get a taste of this life and true Kindred cinema, they won’t be able to get enough…. See you Wednesday night at your recording studio? Perfect.”
Nelli hung up the phone and sat down in front of a huge vanity mirror. If she still breathed, she would have sighed, but instead, she was completely motionless. Between the drama and chaos, she couldn’t remember the last time she looked so unpresentable. She started to clean her face and fix her makeup. One way to clear her head. A problem that she could solve right now.
She had had to pivot the pitch more times than she could remember. It wasn’t going to be what she had originally planned, but soon, there was going to be a show for Kindred by Kindred, and the Camarilla were too consumed with the Masquerade to see it coming.

TRAIL OF DESTRUCTION
Young Brujah are seldom known for their sense of restraint. As a neonate, Annabelle spent the formative years following her embrace in Los Angeles. While she learned much from her friends and allies, she felt the urge to explore her life as a newly embraced Kindred, and eventually left for New York. While she enjoyed city life, she soon found that Camarilla rule was stifling, and maintained a limited court presence during her time in the city. It didn’t take long for her to move on, embarking on a motorcycle tour across the US with a group of allies to visit other Kindred-controlled cities.
Annabelle spent years travelling the Eastern United States, finally finding the freedom she craved in the open highways, and spending a few months anywhere that caught her interest. Most cities welcomed her, curious about the young Brujah who brought news of Kindred happenings in New York, while others watched her roving band of Anarchs with some concern. Annabelle seldom remained very long, otherwise the initial welcome she received inevitably gave way to involvement in local politics. Often, this began with seemingly innocent requests, small favors, or more direct mandates that contribute to the domain. While it was typically her preference to move on before getting too involved in local matters, as a young Brujah, there were some matters of justice where she felt compelled to intervene.
By the time Annabelle returned to Los Angeles in May of 2026, she had become a figure of notoriety. She had acted out against the perceived injustices of four Ventrue Princes, retaliating against each of them and then moving onto the next city. Among the Princes, Prince Jackson of Chicago took notice of Annabelle’s “trail of destruction”, and organized his fellow Princes to pursue collective action against her. Together, they dispatched the Nosferatu Calebros to Los Angeles with an ultimatum: make reparations and satisfy their demands, or they would collectively blood hunt her in their domains.
Calebros dutifully recruited a group of Camarilla luminaries to represent the interests of the Princes. However, he maintained he had no personal stake in the matter. Annabelle and her allies quickly recruited their own group of Anarchs to represent her side of the issues, and reviewed the Princes’ demands. Prince Jackson of Chicago demanded the return of a city monument Annabelle vandalized in symbolic retaliation to incidents of police brutality. The Prince of Lexington, KY demanded compensation for Annabelle sabotaging the construction of a planned data center. The Prince of Memphis accused her of kidnapping his childe, when in reality, he had defected to the Anarch Movement. Lastly, the Prince of Jackson, MS was incensed that Annabelle had exposed his operation to embezzle state funds for personal projects by sending information to mortal journalists.
Annabelle, Calebros, and their aides met to address the issues. Many of the Princes had vastly inflated the injuries their Domains had suffered. Similarly, the Anarchs insisted that Annabelle’s retaliation against the Princes was wholly justified, but often relied upon a mortal as opposed to a Kindred sense of morality. The discussions continued between nights, and Prince Jackson sent his personal signet ring to the Camarilla representatives as a show of his commitment. Similarly, Theo Bell sent one of his lieutenants with his chain to show his unwavering support of Annabelle.
Nearing the end of the weekend, the two sides reached an agreement. Both Prince Jackson of Chicago and the Prince of Lexington received full compensation. However, the childe of the Prince of Memphis refused to return to the Camarilla, preferring to remain an Anarch, and instead sent a letter detailing his reasons for leaving. Lastly, the Anarchs fully rebuked the demands of the Prince of Jackson, MS, informing them that any blood hunt of Annabelle would be met with retaliation from the Anarch Movement.
By all accounts, Kindred on both sides of the issue have moved on. The notoriety Annabelle gained has bolstered her reputation within the Anarch Movement, while Prince Jackson’s demonstrated ability to project power as far as the Anarch Free states has earned him respect as well.
X-PLOITATION
One year into his rule as Baron of Santa Monica, X appeared to be thriving. His barony stable and his capabilities were cemented as Baron. However, beneath the surface, the miraculous “cure” he previously sought out quickly became a dependency. X had previously suffered from an insatiable hunger, a consequence of his capture by Hunters several years ago, and voluntarily embraced torpor. Jasper then spent the subsequent years researching a treatment to restore him, ultimately sending a vitae formulation to a local Tremere for completion which appeared successful. Only a year later, however, the efficacy of the treatments appears to have diminished.
X’s Tremere advisor, Dr. Blythe Ülavere, controlled the treatments that sustained him, tightening her grip by secretly weakening its potency. As X’s hunger worsened throughout the weekend, his behavior became erratic and increasingly desperate. Many who felt X’s plight scrambled to help their Baron, but X was convinced that the serum created by Dr. Blythe was truly helping him,. For her part, Dr. Blythe was eager to put the guests’ concern to work for her.
Those who sought to help X were sent on questionable tasks, including seeking out a critical shipment of treatment components that had gone missing en route to Santa Monica. The investigative Kindred found a series of supply crates with a mix of formula components, and after taking some time to sort them out, they quickly learned something about the batches they were sent to uncover were intentionally botched. Something was clearly amiss.
While working with X over the past year, Dr. Blythe opened a supernatural med spa called Forever Young. Using her patented Bathory method, Dr. Blythe helped the Kindred of the city who came to her for beauty treatment, all the while collecting their blood and information for her Blood Sorcery. Unbeknownst to X, she had done this all in hopes of defecting to the Camarilla into a high position among the Tremere. Later, several Kindred investigating further uncovered her close connection to Maximillian Strauss.
Various groups of Kindred sought out the medspa for answers. During one visit, some Kindred were alerted by Mr. Roubidoux, a puppet on the hand of the Malkavian receptionist Morvayne, that Dr. Blythe was up to no good. Searching the spa, they were able to discover a means to enter a secret secondary lab where they found a vial of X’s tainted cure.
On Sunday, X amassed over 40 allies to confront Dr. Blythe. However, as they breached the facility, they encountered a trap left behind by the Tremere. A burst of magical energy splattered the blood from a group of blood sorcerers attempting to circumvent the wards, dropping them into torpor. Fortunately, their allies were there to immediately assist and revive them.
Inside the secondary lab, they found Dr. Blythe had used a mix of Blood Sorcery and Vicissitude to transform herself into a horrid monstrosity. As monumental struggle ensued, some kindred had the blood drained out of their bodies, driving them to frenzy, while other combatants struggled to withstand the transformed doctor’s onslaught. Working together, the group slew the fleshy amalgamation and brought the other Kindred back to lucidity. The group then searched the inner confines of the lab, where they found Dr. Blythe had engineered a true cure for X’s debilitating curse.
X was deeply shaken by the revelation, but forced to at last confront the truth: Dr. Blythe had never been curing him. She had been poisoning him slowly, tightening his dependency with every dose. The anger and instability that had haunted him for the past year was engineered to manipulate him.
In the aftermath, surrounded by those who had fought for him, X finally allowed himself to let go of the fear that controlled him for so long. He was no longer bound to Dr. Blythe’s serum or the constant terror of what he might become without it. He found something he had not felt since before his curse began, true freedom.
Though the road ahead remains uncertain, X was no longer facing it alone. For the first time in years, the Baron of Santa Monica could finally begin to heal.

CALEBROS CIPHER
The Nosferatu Bertram Tung discovered a cipher that thin-blooded agents of the Second Inquisition were using to encrypt messages. Before he could hand off the device to Calebros, he was attacked by the very same thin-blood he'd stolen it from. Although late to the scene, Calebros recovered part of the device. Bertram's subsequent cryptic clues led him to the Biltmore, where he enlisted the aid of eager young Kindred in the recovery and reconstruction of the cipher.
As some helpers purloined the shadows for hidden clues and cogs, others negotiated for a piece of the cypher which was already found. When all the pieces were assembled under the watchful gaze of the New York Nosferatu, the meaning of the five letter words in red that adorned some encrypted missives became clear: They were the input for the cipher device, which would then provide a decryption key.
Brute force efforts had already decrypted some of the documents, but possession of the cipher would speed the process, especially once the Nosferatu under New York digitized it. This would improve the clan’scounter-intelligence efforts, at least until the Second Inquisition discovered that their system was compromised and changed the cipher.
CLANGRAMS
Rafael de Corazon crafted a custom set of tangrams in the early 1800s when the puzzle game first made its way to Europe. He latched onto the fact that it was composed of seven pieces and that they could be used to assemble a near infinite number of shapes that always required all seven pieces, just like the Camarilla. Although the set of Clangrams was one of his favorite puzzles/games for a time, like all things of our past, he set it aside for a time, and in that time, an enterprising Anarch stole them. For over a century the pieces remained scattered, mostly passing between Anarch hands, until Justicar Molly MacDonald tasked Calebros with their recovery.
The matter was routine. Tower loyalty and an owed boon moved Calebros to action. Soon, the pieces were brought back together through the diligent efforts of a new servire of the Tower and the Kindred they recruited to help. When assembled, the Clangrams quickened the mind of those who assembled them into various shapes, just as Rafael de Corazon intended, but for Calebros, something else came to him. First, it was a smell. As more final shapes were assembled, sounds came and then an indistinct vision of the Nosferatu's past; however, time ran out before Calebros had to hand the Clangrams off to Molly MacDonald, Nosferatu Justicar. Unfortunately, insufficient shapes were assembled to fully unlock Calebros’s lost memory, leaving him with even more questions than before.
─────
Later, at an undisclosed location, the Nosferatu Justicar glared at the doorman waiting for him to complete his report, "he is unwell tonight. He refused to feed." He was always unwell. That was why she was here. The hunger strike was new though. Perhaps he was trying to drive himself into torpor. Molly merely nodded before gliding past, as the retainer opened the door.
The palatial room was a mess. Its furnishings tossed and wallpaper torn. If she didn't know any better, Molly would have guessed a Brujah or a Malkavian lived here. "Jailer. Come to taunt me again?" The voice was silk, but anyone familiar with the Founder knew the acrimony that dripped in its tone. "Release me." The power washed over Molly. This moment was always the worst part of the job. Some trick of her blood gave her a measure of protection from his Presence, she could still feel it. She wanted to grant his wish, even though she resisted.
"A puzzle, My Lord. Perhaps one you could help me solve?" The Nosferatu walked to the Toreador and held forth a tray with seven blood-stained and jumbled pieces.
The response was slow, muted, even reverent. "I know these..." Fingernails broken from clawing at the wall and steel door reached for the piece marked with a rose, "... yes." The hands worked quickly to assemble the first shape, a simple square, and as they did Rafael's eyes became focused, lucid. His mind was once again here, not Beckoned a world away. "Sit with me; I do not know how much time you have given me. I would hear word of the world."

DUSKBORN STICKER SWAP
For many Kindred attending the gathering in Los Angeles, the advertised sticker swap appeared to be little more than a harmless social activity. For Moth, the architect of the sticker swap, this was exactly as planned.
A well-known Duskborn community organizer, Moth had spent years watching thin-bloods struggle to find connection within Kindred society. Too often they existed on the margins of domains and factions, isolated from one another and forced to rediscover knowledge that had already been learned elsewhere. Hoping to foster a stronger sense of belonging while encouraging collaborative research, Moth developed a unique system for encoding Thin-Blood Alchemy formulae within sticker designs.
The concept was simple: trade stickers, meet people, decode formulae, and learn together. And to that end, Moth exchanged many of their own designs with interested Kindred. Soon, participants began finding additional stickers hidden throughout Los Angeles on notebooks, jackets, convention materials, furniture, and artwork. Others surfaced through private trades and chance encounters. Before long, groups of Kindred were working together to compare collections, and make use of the alchemical formulae hidden within the artwork.
New friendships formed. Research partnerships emerged. Duskborn from different cities and factions found themselves exchanging information freely. Even many full-blooded Kindred found themselves drawn into the puzzle, eager to uncover the secrets hidden beneath the colorful designs. As the stickers were decoded and the formulae tested, some stickers produced exactly the effects their encoded instructions suggested, but others produced dangerous side effects ranging from mild complications to violent and occasionally explosive reactions. Concerned for the safety of the growing community, several participants began cataloguing the stickers in an effort to identify patterns.
Researchers realized that any duplicated sticker design invariably produced adverse side effects. Whether created intentionally or accidentally, copies appeared fundamentally flawed. Unfortunately, this discovery failed to explain every dangerous formula. Several unique designs with no known duplicates also produced unstable or harmful results, which led to a troubling theory that not all of the stickers originated with Moth or other Duskborn researchers participating in the project.
Rumors spread of an unknown entity deliberately introducing corrupted formulae into circulation. Whether motivated by malice, sabotage, experimentation, or simple cruelty remains unknown, but many came to believe that someone was actively attempting to undermine the growing sense of trust and cooperation within the community.
A handful of exceedingly rare stickers were found bearing prismatic qualities when viewed from different angles. The formulae encoded within these designs proved unstable during creation, often producing unpredictable results that resisted easy categorization, but unlike traditional Thin-Blood Alchemy, the finished products could be used by both Duskborn and non-Duskborn Kindred.
The implications immediately sparked debate across the community. Some viewed the prismatic formulae as a revolutionary breakthrough capable of transforming the relationship between Thin-Blood Alchemy and the rest of Kindred society, while others feared they represented a dangerous development that was not yet understood. More than a few questioned where the stickers had come from in the first place, as no known alchemist claimed responsibility for their creation.
By the end of the gathering, Moth's experiment had accomplished exactly what they hoped. The Duskborn community was stronger, more connected, and more collaborative than it had been before. However, a creator of dangerous formulae remains unidentified, dangerous stickers continue to circulate, and a handful of prismatic designs hint at possibilities that challenge everything known about Thin-Blood Alchemy.
THE LIFE SPELL
In the land of Egypt in ancient times, Set, the god of chaos and storms slew and dismembered his brother and fellow god Osiris, lord and judge of the dead, ending a blood war. Most Kindred historians consider the moment an early act of murder, but Set’s followers knew it for what it was: an act of deliverance from a mad god who fashioned himself ruler of both the living and the dead. In the ages since, the Followers of Set were known as corruptors, tempters, celebrants, and devotees of their antediluvian, who they revered as a god. In modern nights, the clan has since reorganized as the Ministry. However, while their outward identity changed, their old enemies remained.
Set slaying Osiris was just the beginning. Having purview over the dead, he was not so easily dispatched. Thanks to the intervening magics of the goddess Isis, Osiris was brought back to life, albeit imperfectly, and immediately plotted his revenge. As a consequence of his dismemberment, he had lost the ability to embrace, so his followers, the Cult of Osiris, were recruited from devotees from other clans. Those who would join his ranks were subjected to the Spell of Life, a powerful magic Osiris created which modified the embrace. Together, they waged war against the Followers of Set.
The ensuing struggle played out for centuries, with the Followers of Set slowly driving the Cult of Osiris underground. Throughout this time, Osiris constantly tinkered with the Spell of Life, believing he could create a version to perfect the Kindred condition, and periodically demanded that all of his followers gather to accept his latest iteration upon pain of death or rejection. In the late 1990s, Osiris summoned his cult for yet another version of the spell, and was never seen again. The Followers of Set could find no trace of Osiris or his followers.
When rumors circulated in Atlanta about a sighting of a “Life Spell”, elders among the Ministry were quick to sound the alarm. This most certainly was a resurgence of the Children of Osiris. They instructed their clan to be on alert for any related activity in Los Angeles.
Mysteriously, the magical wards put in place by the Ministry did not detect any attempt to use the spell in Los Angeles. Whether this was out of pragmatism or fear, they cannot be certain. Still, the Ministry remains guarded against any signs that the Cult of Osiris has returned while working to gather powerful magics to dispel the Spell of Life permanently.

THE NETWORKING LIST
During the VIP reception, mysterious lists of tasks began appearing throughout the event with no one entirely certain who had written them. Some claimed they had been left by an enterprising Harpy. Others insisted it was the work of a particularly social Malkavian. A few suspected the Haymarketers, while others blamed the Epicureans. Whatever their origin, the instructions were simple enough: Form a team of three. Then go meet the city.
The lists challenged participants to seek out members of every faction operating in Los Angeles. Some tasks were straightforward. Others required a bit more creativity. Kindred were asked to exchange stories, pay compliments, collect favors, take photographs, share drinks, learn names, and complete dozens of small acts designed to do something many Kindred struggle with, to make a genuine connection.
At first, many participants dismissed the exercise as little more than a social game. Others quickly discovered that approaching complete strangers was often more intimidating than confronting rival sects or ancient conspiracies. Yet as the evening progressed, groups could be seen moving throughout the venue, introducing themselves, meeting new people, and slowly crossing items off their lists. The challenge became unexpectedly competitive.
Teams compared progress, exchanged rumors about unfinished objectives, and attempted to determine who was currently in the lead. A few participants focused on efficiency, racing from faction to faction as quickly as possible. Others took a slower approach, discovering that meaningful conversations often opened doors that simple introductions could not.
Many groups started the challenge, but only a handful of enterprising Kindred managed to finish it.
The first group to complete every objective consisted not of established leaders, famous elders, or influential powerbrokers, but three newcomers. Arriving in Los Angeles with few connections and little notoriety, they embraced the challenge wholeheartedly and, by the end of the evening, they had spoken with representatives from every faction, completed every task, and earned something far more valuable than a simple victory, they’d become memorable.
In a city crowded with ambitious Kindred, being remembered is the first step to being powerful. The trio's enthusiasm, persistence, and willingness to engage with everyone they met ensured that their names spread far beyond their immediate circles. Influential Kindred recognized them. Even those who had only spoken with them briefly found themselves recalling the encounters days later.
Whether the Networking List was intended as a game, a social experiment, or something else entirely remains unknown. What is certain is that Los Angeles became a little smaller because of it. New relationships were formed, old barriers became easier to cross, and somewhere in the city, three newcomers returned home carrying a completed list and a network of connections that many Kindred spend decades trying to build.
REBUILDING THE PYRAMID II
“Using gender neutral pronouns and removing archaic references to House are minor edits." The voice that came through the bronze mirror was warbly and distorted, but still clearly Karl Schrekt. "What of any substantive recommendations?"
The Regent of the Magic Castle stood with notes in hand. Fortunately, this method of communicating only relayed sound. "No magical surveillance without explicit permission, they would ask for their clanmates to hunt and kill them if they willingly or knowingly cause grievous harm or conspire to harm a fellow Tremere, and a shift from upholding the value and goals of the Camarilla to that of the Traditions. This is, of course, a summary. I am preparing the formal written language for you. There is of course a desire to review the suggestions in the near future."
"These suggestions are feasible. The Goratricines may not be happy, but it is an olive branch to Carna and the others. If the Pyramid is to survive, it must embrace a measure of flexibility. Please continue."
Garrick paused to steel himself before presenting the structural suggestions, "They wish for the position of Magister to be more fully adopted. Additionally, Stewards were suggested to take the place of the Council of Seven. They would serve one year terms and be policed by the Pontifices."
"One year?" The former Justicar interrupted the Regent, "the general notion of Stewards selected by Pontifices is interesting." Schrekt's acceptance of the proposal took Garrick aback, "if a Councilor, Steward, cannot properly control the Pontifices, then they will fail in their duty; however, one year is too short. Mortal politicians have a difficult enough time getting anything done in even two years. If the Council of Stewards is to function as a governing body, it will need a longer term. Perhaps seven. It is the number of Power and holds significance for the clan, but the duration need not be set just now. Any other suggestions?"
"Yes, they propose the creation of a new position, that of Archivist, who would collect knowledge of the city and chantry, ensure apprentices are assigned to areas they would flourish in, and advise visiting Tremere on matters facing the city."
There was a long pause on the other end before a question came, "how does this not usurp the authority of the Regent?"
This was the topic Garrick knew Karl Schrekt would most balk at, nearly any loyalist would, "there was quite some discussion on that front. The general feeling being that the Archivist would be a check and balance on the power of the Regent, a neutral voice that assisted Tremere of all ranks. The Regent could still assign Apprentices, as the Archivist technically holds little power outside of information."
If the ancient was given to mortal ticks, he would have sighed, "they make this more complicated than it needs to be and introduce confusion as a result. The position is almost reminiscent of that which Paul Cordwood filled at Ceoris, but few Kindred lack political ambition as he did. Let us simplify this matter. The Regent is to the Chantry as the Prince... or Baron is to the city. Just as a Prince has a Seneschal to assist them, so may a Regent have an Archivist. The Archivist is responsible for collecting knowledge of the city and chantry and advising the Regent. In the Regent's absence, the Archivist may speak in their place. An intelligent Archivist, just like a savvy Seneschal, can keep an errant Regent in check. This arrangement does not officially erode the Regent's authority and therefore maintains the stability of the Pyramid."
"That does change the intended meaning of the position somewhat, but I understand. One more item. The Solitarchies. They wish to brand those who do not take the Tremere Oath."
A single word echoed approval, "bold."

VICTORIA’S VERSION
Word spread first through elite Toreador circles, then into broader Kindred society that Victoria Ash has been preparing a triumphant return to her music career. Many anticipated that the city of Los Angeles, home of the recording industry, would play a key role. Whether due to collectors, enthusiastic fans, or perhaps a clever bit of viral marketing, hidden recordings and a few unfinished versions of Victoria’s tracks began surfacing throughout the city, drawing the attention of Kindred eager to claim a piece of her comeback for themselves.
Victor Temple saw an opportunity, and expressed interest in helping bring Victoria Ash back into the spotlight through his label. However, others sought to debut her music within Los Angeles nightlife circles, specifically club Asylum, before anyone else could. Both sides sought to gather as many of the recordings as they possibly could.
In the end, much of the album was recovered. Though beautiful and pop-centric, listeners noticed a recurring theme hidden beneath the song titles which included subtle references to the recent trial of Germaine in Atlanta. Whether inspired by the proceedings or warning of something yet to come, Victoria’s newest work ensured that Los Angeles would be speaking her name once again.
VIDEO NASTY
It started when mysterious VHS tapes appeared across the city. Real video nasties full of sex and violence. The footage was grainy, and it wasn’t always clear exactly what was happening, but anyone watching the tapes was sure the footage was not simulated. With titles like “Last Rites of the Incubus,” and “The Howling X,” they were also a massive breach of the Masquerade depicting real magic and supernatural beings. Some Kindred even saw mortals they cared about in the films.
After collecting all 10 videos and removing their covers, the Kindred guests were able to form a map of Los Angeles and its many historical sites. Fortunately one of them knew a little astrology, and after searching for famous scorpions around LA, they found a secret studio beneath Casa Vega.
In the hidden basement beneath the historic Mexican restaurant, a group of investigators found the fae director of the films seated in front of a white cyclorama. Glad to receive company, he compelled them to perform auditions for one of his upcoming films. They performed Shakespeare, attempted stage combat, and one even did a provocative dance. But one of the coterie was able to resist the compulsion and lashed out using the only weapon they had left: scathing admonishment.
She told him that his films were bad, and he needed to stop. The rest of the team agreed, as they sang to or grinded on him, taunting him that the most actionable decision would be to stop making movies. They even suggested that he try a podcast. Deciding to seek new artistic exploits, the director disappeared, releasing the glamour that kept their friends and other mythical creatures captive within the studio. They even saved a furry creature they believed to be Bigfoot!
While production of the videos has ceased, you won’t want to miss “True Crimes As They Happen,” a new podcast airing on pirate radio.

A COMIC’S LAST STAND
A Kindred’s own mouth can be their worst enemy. Brujah run their mouth all the time, so it is perhaps more surprising that it took this long before a stand up comic mocking other Kindred caused a problem for them; though, may have had help.
It began when private videos of the comic's performances circulated to the courts of the mocked Kindred. For political creatures, reputation is everything, so those Kindred sires tasked their childer with addressing their grievances, boons were traded, and even Princes leveraged threats. Regardless of the means, the instructions were clear: find this upstart comic and correct the issue. Two tasked kindred filmed the Brujah apologizing for their transgressions, possibly raising questions of censorship versus free speech. The insult to Renato's dancing skills would not be so easily settled. It demanded a dance off with no shortage of champions lining up to assist the Brujah.
Later in the weekend, a trio of Toreador reviewed the results, "I have to admit, I did not think this little game of yours would yield such results."
"The elders of the past would have ignored such a challenge, but most Ancillae who rule the nights since the Beckoning learned all the wrong lessons of power. They are fragile little egos that feel they must defend every perceived attack upon their power, lest they lose what they have gained."
"I have enjoyed this game. Have you chosen a pawn for the next one?"
SERPENTS AND THE SUN
Once again sensations from the Cobweb crawled across the minds of various Malkavians. Their senses blurred to reveal another world, another time, for one final vision.
Hot wind scoured the Malkavian's skin as they raced, fled. The storm nipped at the wheels of the chariot. Black serpents flickered in the underbelly of the dust cloud.
The oncoming horizon grew orange with the coming dawn, the rising disc of gold chasing away shadow. The acrid scent of the serpents' venom waned as the chariot pulled ahead, outdistancing the hungry storm of red sand. Twin pillars rose before the Malkavian's eyes, a city of stone dedicated to the sun of gold. Beyond it, through its streets, on to the blue horizon.
The Malkavian didn't turn back, their eyes stayed forward. Somehow they knew the chase was over. They knew they escaped.
─────
“What is going on? My mind, the cobweb, it's volatile, unreliable." Complained the younger Malkavian.
“Not for everyone. Your visions reveal much. A golden disc, a boy, snakes in the darkness. An ancient reached out to you."
The younger Malkavian scrunched up their face, clearly not happy with the answer. “Was this like Atlanta?"
A soft smile appeared on the lore master's lips. “No, the imagery was different. The disc you describe was the Aten." Seeing their student's blank look, they rolled their eyes. “Look it up online. As that was the Aten, the boy was Panehesy, a priest of Aten and one Malkav's childer. Some even say the rumors of mummies were due to him pranking Set's get. They were the darkness, the snakes. The vision was a battle, possibly against the Hierophants themselves. Our champion reached out for help. Panehesy reached out to you, and with your aid, they escaped whatever trap had been laid for them. Like it or not, you are part of the Gehenna War. We all are."

BEYOND THE MIRROR
A quiet story unfolded over the weekend in Los Angeles involving Clan Lasombra. Due to actions taken in Atlanta last year, a prominent member of the Clan, Cassandra Milan, was targeted by the remnants of the Sabbat for defection to the Camarilla. Thanks to the actions of Kindred in Atlanta, the location of her haven did not fall into the hands of her would-be killers, and she extended an invitation to those of Clan Lasombra to meet her in Los Angeles. The Lasombra who attended learned that Cassandra was not only an Elder, but also one of the few remaining members of the Amici Noctis, a secretive, internal organization of the Clan that dictates a lot of the Clan's direction and internal policy.
Cassandra also revealed she was struggling against the Beckoning, and slowly losing. However, she, along with her ghoul Hassan, found a ritual she believed could spread the burden of the Beckoning across other, willing participants, lessening its effects. Many members of the Clan participated in this ritual, and began to experience visions and memories, all seemingly tied to the Beckoning and Cassandra's past.
The visions and memories intensified as the weekend carried on, with more grim, and more severe consequences for those who continued to carry the burden of the Beckoning. It became clear to some that there was something else at work here—something Cassandra was entirely unaware of.
The entity known by the Lasombra as Shalim is nothing more than a myth or superstition to most Kindred, but for a devout few, it represents an answer to everything: the meaning of life and the purpose of (un)life. As the source of the visions, the answer it provides is bleak and grim; a glimpse into oblivion through a return to the Abyss. More than a few members of the Clan had to end the ritual’s effects, returning their portion of burden of the Beckoning to Cassandra. However, most Lasombra managed to endure, experiencing fully all the pain, anguish, and damage the visions caused.
The reasons the entity known as Shalim took an interest in this Lasombra Elder, or how it is able to subvert the Beckoning, is unknown and may never be understood. Clan Lasombra came together, and shared a burden that even collectively, challenged them and pushed them to their limits. Their Clan has retained a powerful leader, who now has begun work on rebuilding a critical piece of the Clan's internal power, which can only benefit them in the future.
As for the entity, not even those who worship it truly understand it. What happens next remains to be seen….
ADDITIONAL
DESTROYING THE OBELISK
For most Kindred, the events surrounding the Temple of Apophis in the Santa Barbara sands were best left buried beneath dust, memory, and silence. For a small group of six, however, unanswered questions proved stronger than caution.
Led by a mage and a Lasombra, the group departed Los Angeles and ventured into the desert once more to the place where the road to the temple had once begun. The mage, who had survived the previous encounter, remembered enough to know what waited there, but those who had not were nonetheless determined to see the truth for themselves.
Ancient, and impossibly familiar, the obelisk stood alone amidst the sands exactly where memory said it should be. Whatever connection it maintained to the temple beyond, it had survived the destruction and chaos of the previous year. The moment the group approached, they knew they were no longer alone. Those who had encountered Apophis before heard the voice immediately. It arrived not through the air, but through memory, thought, and temptation. The questions asked felt familiar, the promises made felt quotidian, and the hunger behind them felt intimate.
Each member of the group needed something slightly different, answers to old questions, solutions to old wounds, and invitations to old ambitions. The voice spoke with the fidelity of an old friend and the certainty of a patient predator. Some knelt before it, seeking understanding. Others sought favor. Others demanded answers. Whatever their motivations, each chose to engage with the entity rather than turn away from it.
In doing so, they discovered they were not alone at the monument. Surrounding the obelisk were countless souls kneeling in eternal supplication, forming a silent congregation stretching outward into the desert, trapped in acts of devotion that had long outlasted their mortal bodies. The souls stared upward in worship, frozen in prayer, bargaining, and desperation. None appeared capable of leaving.
The longer the conversations continued, the more dangerous they became. The mage recognized the risk before the others fully understood it. Whatever knowledge was being offered came with a cost, and every moment spent listening tightened the grip of temptation. There would be no safe answers here.
Drawing upon her power, she shattered the obelisk, and pushed the dead to move on until the souls surrounding the site disappeared into the desert wind. Whether they found peace, oblivion, or something else entirely, none remained behind. She then warded the site, layering protections over the ruined ground in the hope that whatever connection had existed there would never again be so easily reached. The dead were gone. The obelisk was destroyed. She was sure the road was closed. They had destroyed a marker, freed the dead, and denied temptation. But somewhere beneath the sands, and beyond the shattered monument, something still laughed.

THE FATE OF SAN FRANCISCO
As the gathering storm made its way to San Francisco, the city was not prepared. The early warnings and frantic texts sent to the city’s residents were received with a mix of skepticism and fear, but they weren’t enough to elicit a serious defense. Prince Vannevar’s death years ago left the city fractured, and with no plans for an invasion of this scale, it was incapable of a cohesive defense.
The city’s residents were immediately suspicious of the well-intentioned defenders who rushed to the city to join them. Some quickly noted that the devices carried by the group from Los Angeles meant there was a digital trail leading the Hunters right to them. Others suspected that the Anarchs had designs on taking the city, and were using the imminent Hunter attack as a cover. Many had heard that they intentionally placed San Francisco in harm’s way, and refused to cooperate altogether.
All sources of Hunter intelligence immediately ceased, leaving the defenders completely blind. While well-intentioned, a warning to the court of San Francisco and sudden shift in forces sent a clear signal that information on BULWARK had leaked. Nelli G’s contact could never be leveraged again, even if he lived. An internal purge followed.
The Hunters soon arrived, making their presence known in a brutal series of daytime strikes. One by one, they dragged screaming Kindred into the daylight. Any who seemed unaffected were taken into custody. The initial targets were young, vulnerable Kindred; neonates who had been careless about technology and who lacked the resources and privilege to better secure themselves. It wasn’t long before they found some of the Anarch visitors whose temporary havens were even less defended.
The residents were horrified. The city’s Nosferatu disappeared almost immediately. Many Kindred who had the means quietly left for other courts. Some remained out of stubbornness or duty. Others saw opportunity. If London was any lesson, they reasoned, the eldest Kindred remaining could surely consolidate power once the storm had passed. For them, San Francisco was a tempting prize which drew closer with the death of every rival.
Weeks later, unity among the defenders is scarce. Some believe the Hunters will leave if they aren’t able to locate any more targets. The Anarch defenders, therefore, are exacerbating the problem. Others are willing to resist, but find themselves fighting blind. So far, the Hunters dodged every carefully laid ambush, leading some to wonder if they had an informant. Letters to various Justicars have gone unanswered. Malkavians have dreams of a tortured voice begging them to leave the city. The Anarchs begin to wonder if it’s worth saving a city that’s scarcely fighting for itself, but for now, they remain.
As the struggle continues, there are no heroes in San Francisco. There is no shortage of martyrs, fools, and victims. But there are no heroes.
