THE LIMELIT CIRCLE

Fame is a unique power which challenges the ruling elite. Don’t believe me? Ask any child if they’d rather be a musician, a scientist, or a general. Ask any politician what they wouldn’t do for an endorsement from Taylor Swift. During the height of Rome, the nobility sought to shun actors from polite society, yet Nero performed in his own private theater. These nights, airlines and consumer brands bow to customer complaints on Twitter while fledgling companies supplicate influencers for favor. Fame inspires, motivates, and entertains; it sidesteps more traditional, controllable means of influence; a force derived wholly from the masses and their collective will. As creatures drawn to power, fame is a seductive fire that lures kindred like moths, only to see us burnt to cinders if the Masquerade is transgressed. No wonder the elites try so hard to limit access to it.

We are a group which embraces this power, a collection of actors and influencers, producers, playwrights, and dramatists. We’ve wielded fame to build superstars and to ruin the careers of the unworthy. We control mortal attention to safeguard the Masquerade while choosing which songs will make the top 40 in the span of a day. Some of us embrace fame directly, walking the razor’s edge of discovery, while others wield it from behind on the scenes.

It’s said that fame isn’t for everyone. Running in our circles can attract a dangerous sort of attention. For us, life is a performance and attention is a powerful commodity. Do you have what it takes to navigate the algorithms and join us on the front page?

Las Vegas - The Limelit Circle

The Limelit Circle appeared on the Las Vegas scene with a splash, as they should, when their gift was selected by the Triumvirate at the high roller event on Thursday night. They promised to use their prowess with social media to provide forewarning of potential breaches of the Masquerade.

When the festivities properly commenced, the Circle received a very condescending message from a fellow Limelighter based in LA. Galvanized by the slight, the small but effective faction immediately began using their fame, power, and influence to ensure that mortal attention was focused elsewhere in Las Vegas, leaving the kindred gathered to safely pursue their interests at the Paris Hotel. One very relaxed kindred ensured that traffic around the Paris Hotel was impassible, preventing mortals from reaching the area, and ensured through their connections with service workers ensured that the closer a mortal got to the Paris Casino, the worse the service they’d receive at any establishment.

A Circle member with a significant following on their YouTube channel posted promos for their investigation of the haunted Clown Motel to draw fans to that location, but found that particular property was owned by Jaromír Černý. They negotiated use of the site for their purposes and gained the respect of Jaromír in the process.

When an outbreak tied to one of the plagues afflicting Las Vegas required quarantine, the Limelit Circle made good on their promise and provided forewarning to the Triumvirate. They then took the initiative to quickly film and distribute behind the scenes videos that showed they were on a closed set taking quarantine precautions while filming a new movie. This averted attention from the large gathering of kindred once again and made it look like they were mortal stars concerned about the threat of the virus.

Not the type to rest on their laurels, the Limelit Circle decided to engage contacts in the Digital Collective to create an app that would continue to provide this type of forewarning without the need for them to spend time actively monitoring social media. Delighted by this idea, Elizabeth Dimitrios rewarded all involved for their ingenuity.
