Two Character Creation Paths
- I LARP, I in general know what I am doing, I will create a sheet! See the ‘Main Character Creation’ section below!
- I don’t LARP, don’t know the rules, want to play my concept and amazing character but don’t want to make a sheet. See Concept Submittal immediately below!
Concept Submittal
- Have an idea what you want to play. Start an email, 1-3 sentences should be enough. Here are some concept examples! ‘I am a badass Dresden like vampire investigator’, or ‘I am a sexy goth-drama-queen-scream-queen-musician’, or ‘I am a murderous monster who doesn’t belong in society but I am in Chicago to do a friend a favor’. We can help with more ideas if you need!

What to provide to Cheshire

Character Sheet: A PDF of your character sheet (Editable format preferred!). As of the end of the San Antonio event is preferred as time-stamped versions of your character will be saved for each chapter in the Darkness Emergent story!

Public Bio: 1-2 Paragraph summary of your character. Consider this an executive Bio – and something you don’t mind being ‘Public Knowledge’ (because it may become so!)

Private Summary: 1-2 Paragraph summary of what is TRUE about your character

Chief Motivations – and what you would like to see your character accomplish in the coming chapters of Darkness Emergent. Being succinct is important with hundreds of characters already existing in this world for our Storytellers to work towards!

1-10 page backstory. This is as much for you as it is for us, but we love good drama and fodder. This is private information only Cheshire, Dread, and our Storytellers will ever see. This can absolutely be NSFW.

A photo – Perhaps from a prior Darkness Emergent event of your character that we might post publicly.
How much XP do I have to start with?

All characters start with 120XP. This your first event? 120XP!

Did you purchase the XP pack for San Antonio? We have records if you forgot.

If you backed V5 and attended San Antonio – you got a bonus.

For attending San Antonio – you gained 50xp!
So – for clarity. This is your first event? 120XP! This is your 2nd event, no extra stuff? 170XP!

What happens to my XP if my character dies? Your next character will start at or near the current XP. Policy may change over time but – we are focused on story and character progression!

Will XP purchase be available again? Yes. We expect to announce it later in April. It will be less XP then at San Antonio.
